In Our Own Image
She wishes
she could love him,
so
She tears
off his wings
removes his legs,
snaps off his head.
She cuts out his heart,
frees him
from entrapment
in the human.
In the sinless grace
of ignorance
evil comes easily.
She gradually rebuilds him
into an image
she can recognize.
One she can cope with, be proud of,
a god she understands;
one she can worship.
Hail Mary, Ruby, Janice,
full of grace.
choose any name you want,
God is with thee.
